The Eventful Life

Not sure how to celebrate Australia Day on the Gold Coast? We’ve pulled together a comprehensive list so all you need to do is settle in for poolside pints and read on!

The Gold Coast is abuzz with activities that let you celebrate exactly as you want to from laid back lunches to water cruises or the whole shebang with fun, food trucks and fireworks.

If you don’t want to leave the Resort you can plan your day around the beach lagoon, order from our Pool House menu and make your way through our new cocktail list with the serene sound of the lagoon lapping at the sand.

Below you will find the finest selection of family fun, free and paid activities to make sure your Australia Day long weekend is the best you’ve had.

If food trucks, fireworks and entertainment are what you love, head over to the Broadwater Parklands for a fun-filled afternoon family friendly, alcohol-free outing.  One of the Coast’s best offerings is the Gold Coast City Council celebrations. Showcasing everything from a ‘Mini-Commonwealth-Games’, fireworks, Aussie Activities Zone, beach volleyball and even live music with renowned Coast band; Mason Rack Band and support by impressive talent over the event.

If you’re after something slightly more refined than running around with a bat in hand, head to Canungra for the O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards celebration. You can choose from the traditional BBQ pack or the gourmet homestead basket, both serving two adults, which both include either a bottle of wine or two craft beers.  The kids will delight in some back-yard cricket and the Mountview Alpaca Farm where they can feed or walk an Alpaca. If you’re feeling the heat there’s even a creek you can cool off in, so don’t forget swimmers and towel!

The Vintage Restaurant will also be open and you can call the team on 5543 4011 to reserve your table.

Where: Canungra Valley Vineyards

When: Saturday 26th January 2019 | 10:00 am – 3:00 pm AEST | $5-$90

A bit closer to home aka the Resort, is the Northern Gold Coast’s eclectic night markets, Nightquarter. Always up for something different and completely family-friendly you’ll enjoy Aussie rock cover band, Prime Ministers of Australia, fun and entertainment to keep the mini-humans busy such as dance parties, egg and spoon races, sack races, cockroach races (yep, you read it right!), thong throwing, sausage sizzle, snag eating competition, the Aussie magician and Cozy the koala and kid’s Aussie animal painting workshops. It’s the place to be in the Northern Gold Coast.

Where: Nightquarter, Helensvale

When: Saturday 26th January | 4pm and entry is $3.

What says Australia more than a friendly (or competitive?) game of beach cricket? Gather the friends and family and head to a section of our 57km of pristine coastline with an esky full of snacks and refreshments to re-fuel after you become known as the great beach cricket champion among friends and family.
